The Night Slasher Banked Slalom went off on March 1st at Hoedown Hill in Windsor, bringing together a stoked crew of snowboarders ready to rip through a fun and technical course under the lights. With Never Summer, Mountain Rentals, and Hoedown Hill as the main sponsors, riders showed up to throw down for a night of speed and good times.
A Race Like No Other
The day kicked off with registration in the Grainhouse from 1-3 PM, where riders signed up for their respective class: Open, Amateur, or Groms (12 & Under), with both men’s and women’s divisions in each category. A discounted lift ticket gave people the chance to experience snowboarding in Windsor, along with a free Night Slasher t-shirt for every competitor. With over 55 rider sign-ups getting all set, everyone fueled up on food and drinks before heading out for their inspection runs between 1:30 and 3 PM to scope the course.
As the sun started to dip, riders gathered for the Riders’ Meeting at 3:30 PM, getting the final details before the first rider dropped in at 4 PM, just in time for golden hour with beautiful 65 degree bluebird weather. The second run at 6 PM was where things got extra spicy, as racers carved their way down the banked turns fully under the lights. The temperatures dropped and the snow got super fast. And because no banked slalom is complete without some good vibes, the night wrapped up with a legendary party lap, bringing everyone together for one last rip down the hill.
Podiums, Prizes & Glory
After all was said and done, awards kicked off just after the party lap, with winners across all categories scoring Never Summer snowboards, goggles, sunglasses, shirts, mittens, and more. But the Men’s and Women’s Open podiums got something extra special—the iconic Garden Hoe Trophy in Gold, Silver, and Bronze, a fitting trophy to the spirit of Hoedown Hill.
