R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology
Both our Hybrid Triple Camber and Recurve Traditional Camber profiles feature R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology. R.I.P. does not use the traditional bumpy sidecut found in other edge technology, the kind that protrudes from the sidecut of the board, which causes drag when on edge.
Straight Sidecut
(Our Sidecut)
Bumpy Sidecut
(their Sidecut)
R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology uses waves that come from the base down toward the snow. this provides pressure when on edge and will flow more freely while providing superior edge grip.
Increased Glide
By lifting the base in strategic areas, R.I.P. minimizes friction between the board and snow. It acts as a permanent, maintenance-free base structure. This design allows for smoother, faster riding while maintaining grip and stability across various terrains.
Reduced Drag
Our Edge-hold Technology is not a drag! There are no bumpy protrusions jutting out from the side of your board interrupting your fluid carves and slowing transitions. Our sidecuts, combined with Hyrbid Triple Camber or Recurve Traditional Traditional Camber eliminate the drag and result in a smoother, faster ride with effortless transition from edge to edge.
Grip On Ice
The added camber zones in profiles that have R.I.P. create high-pressure contact points along the edge, allowing the board to bite into icy surfaces with precision. This enhanced edge hold provides superior grip and stability, even in the toughest, most firm conditions.

Confident Stability
The combination of multiple contact points and strategically placed camber zones ensures the board remains locked in and responsive, offering a solid, stable feel underfoot. This design boosts rider confidence by maintaining control and balance at high speeds, on catwalks, and traversing.
Straight Tracking
The camber zone between the bindings create a stable platform in the center of the board, helping it track straight and true, especially on flat sections or when coming off the lift. This design reduces saucering and enhances stability for a smoother, more controlled ride.
Complete Balance
R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology strikes the perfect balance between grip, glide, and stability, seamlessly blending the benefits of camber and rocker profiles. With its innovative design, R.I.P. delivers confident edge control, reduced drag, and effortless tracking, ensuring a versatile ride that performs across all conditions and riding styles.
R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology Frequently Asked Questions
Hybrid Triple Camber and Recurve Traditional Camber combine the benefits of both rocker and camber - float and versatility plus energy and power - with the added edge hold and reduced drag of R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology. R.I.P. allows for straight tracking stability and grip on hard packed snow, while the waves on the base plane of Triple and Recurve profiles reduce friction on the snow for a faster glide. Hybrid Triple and Recurve Camber with R.I.P. are enhanced hybrid and traditional camber profiles exclusive to Never Summer.
R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology is an innovative take on existing edge hold technologies. Magne-Traction and other brand's 'wavy' edges are good technologies, but they reduce the benefits of a consistently smooth sidecut radius. 'Serrating' the sidecut by putting bumps along the edge does provide good edge hold, but can introduce a catchy feeling and increase unnecessary friction. R.I.P. utilizes the camber and rocker zones of the 'base' plane to introduce high pressure contact points between the bindings while maintaining a smooth sidecut, providing powerful edge hold while reducing drag, instilling confidence and boosting performance.
Many high-level snowboarders, focused on carving and speed, like to sharpen their edges before riding, while many freestyle riders or those riding powder prefer to detune them at points to reduce the catchy feeling. Not every snowboarder has the ability or tools to sharpen their edges before each ride, so an edge technology focused on providing high pressure on edge for carving, regardless of how sharp they are, eliminates that need.
If you do have a sharpening tool, or can take your board to a snowboard shop to get sharpened before riding, that is a bonus. Boards with R.I.P. can be tuned as normal, and will still provide the edge hold without the drag benefits not found in other technologies.
Drag is created by the serrations on edge found in other technologies. ‘Bumps’ along the edge create inconsistencies in the sidecut geometry and create friction that can slow a rider down. The dynamics of R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology stem from the base plane instead of the sidecut, an innovative approach to edge hold technology that, when arched into a carve, create high-pressure points between the bindings for edge hold while maintaining smooth, consistent contact on edge for a faster glide and reduced drag.
Boards with R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology are perfect for any skill level, from beginners to the highest-level advanced riders. This technology is found exclusively in Never Summer’s patented Hybrid Triple Camber and Recurve Traditional Camber profiles. R.I.P. inspires confidence in riders working on their basic skills, such as initiating and connecting turns, or straight tracking off lifts and on cattracks, while eliminating the catchy feeling and drag-causing friction, making learning and progressing much easier.
Hybrid profiles such as Triple Camber will be more forgiving than the powerful Recurve Traditional Camber profile, but the R.I.P. Edge Hold Tech makes both profiles perform better with less effort. Freestyle oriented Triple Camber boards with R.I.P. such as the Easy Rider or Breezy Rider would be a good starting point for a first board.
R.I.P. is a brand new edge hold technology that is exclusive to Never Summer boards with Triple Camber or Recurve Traditional Camber - two profiles different from any profile we’ve offered in the past. Rocker Camber boards still have the benefits of float and precision, and still have good edge hold, but Triple Camber and Recurve Camber profiles create R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology - superior edge hold and control on hard pack or ice derived from high pressure points between the bindings without sacrificing the surfy feel in powder or on the rest of the hill.
First edition Triple Camber and Recurve boards still have R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology.
