In January of 2023, we were riding a wave of success and stellar reviews of our directional Valhalla snowboard. We then began seeing requests on an organic Never Summer Snowboards Facebook fan page and hearing from customers asking for a twin version of the Valhalla. Never Summer co-founder, Tracey Canaday, is always listening to what our customers want and set out to design this new twin-tip snowboard. A high-performance board with the agile response and edge hold of the Valhalla, but in a twin package for riding switch and the feeling of a balanced freestyle ride – The V-Twin was born.
Shaping the V-Twin
For the shape of the V-Twin, we wanted something provocative but functional. To capture this we looked back to the past. In 2016/17 we had a model called the Warlock (pictured above), which later was renamed and made as the Ltd Bone in 2020 (also pictured above). The look and performance of this model gave it a cult following. We wanted the V-Twin shape to have wider, elongated tips like the Warlock/Bone to add surface area to the ends of the board, allowing it float in deep powder. The V-Twin utilizes this design and also has stepper or higher kicks at the ends. Giving a rider a twin that floats like a directional board but with a more balanced feel of a centered stance, core flex and symmetrical shape. Crank out those 360’s and 720’s in the park with ease, land switch in powder effortlessly, rip the trees and lay out carves on the groomers. The V-Twin is a versatile shape that can be ridden all over the mountain and not have that feeling that you need to switch boards on a powder day because the nose is diving or your leg is killing you from trying to keep the board afloat. The broad shape also provides the rider with a wider platform for pressing, buttering, nose and tail wheelies off the snow and park features. The shape is capped off with stylishly durable aluminum tip/tail protectors.
The V-Twin Recluse Carbon Fiber
To enhance the performance of the V-Twin to the next level, we utilize our Recluse Carbon Web Layup. Carbon Fiber is bound in 20 degree angles to provide torsional stability, enabling the board to hold in a hard carve, even on the iciest of conditions. This stiffens the board longitudinal for added stability at high speeds and in variable snow conditions. The RECLUSE CARBON WEB TECHNOLOGY also holds the integrity of the board's flex pattern over a longer period of time and creates powerful snap in and out of the turn.
Featuring Hybrid Triple Camber & R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology
Like its directional sibling, The Valhalla, the V-Twin features our patented Hybrid Triple Camber profile with R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology. What’s unique about R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology is that the edge hold starts at the center of the board and is derived from the base plane instead of protruding out from the edges. The two rocker zones on each side of the center camber create high-pressure points, and when engaged with the camber areas underfoot and the high-pressure points on nose and tail, this ensures the ultimate grip. You can see the rooster tails coming off these pressure points in this shot of a rider carving on a frozen lake, shown below.
The center camber slightly reduces the pivot points of the rocker to allow the board to track straight and predictably, and remain stable at high speeds, whether flat-basing on catwalks or traversing on steeps. The hybrid rocker between the feet and overall rocker allows for easy transition from one edge to the other, while the three camber zones reduce suction and drag. This also helps with float in powder and keeps the board forgiving to ride. The camber at the ends of the board give the V-Twin massive spring and ollie pop. The Triple Camber Profile with R.I.P. Edge Hold Technology give the V-Twin the ability to rip tight carves, boost off side hits, bomb down runs while having a balanced twin for spinning and riding switch
If you’re looking for the most unique, versatile, and high-performance twin on the market, look no further then the V-Twin.
