If you are familiar with Never Summer, there is no doubt that you have heard about our Triple Camber technology. By adding a third camber area flanked by two small rockers, this technology allows you to use your snowboard edges as efficiently as possible. Yet, the Triple Camber design is housed within a rocker camber shape that is still playful and forgiving.
Harnessing the Power of Rocker & Camber
In the early years of snowboarding , all snowboards were basically built with a rocker profile. Snowboarding was basically confined to backhill and backcountry powder riding, most ski areas didn’t allow snowboarding. A rocker design and a wider platform allowed snowboards to stay on top of the powder and gave a rider the sensation of “surfing the snow.” As ski areas started allowing snowboards, manufacturers went to a cambered design that most skis were built with. This was a reverse of the rocker to put more pressure over the snow to allow a rider to have greater control over the board on the hard packed ski area conditions. This cambered period of snowboarding lasted through the 90’s and into the early 2000’s. Rocker boards resurfaced in 2006, with snowboarders missing that playful, surfy feel. However, this loose feel had its usual disadvantages of riding packed and icy snow. Around this same time period Never Summer Industries founders saw the pros and cons of each design and decided to combine a rocker profile with camber. In 2009 our Rocker and Camber or CRC (Camber Rocker Camber) was born and in 2010 we received the patent for this technology.
Today, the fusion of camber and rocker designs brings the best of both worlds with stability and playfulness. Camber gives you control at high speeds and stability in your turns. For its part, the rocker allows you to float in the powder and jib effortlessly in the park.
What Makes Triple Camber Profile Revolutionary?
While it is nothing new to combine rocker and camber in a single snowboard, Never Summer has changed the game on the ways in which these different design elements are combined. In doing so, we have built the most versatile, all-mountain snowboards ever seen.
Center Camber Zone
While many manufacturers use a camber/rocker combo with two camber zones directly underfoot, Never Summer added a third in the center camber zone. With this design, your primary edge hold starts from the center of the board, giving maximum pop as power transfers towards your feet. This center camber zone also reduces some of the pivot of the rocker, allowing a triple camber snowboard to track straight and be predictable.
Underfoot Camber Zones
Never Summer’s underfoot camber zones give you insane stability at high speeds. When you apply your weight to your toeside or heelside edge, the camber sends you naturally into a turn. The buttery carving ability of our design will help you feel locked in and confident in all your turns.
Two Small Rocker Zones
Two small rocker zones located between the camber zones give you that little boost needed to stay on top of the snow - especially in the flats. These additional rocker zones also make Never Summer boards more playfulness than other models of comparable stiffness and dampness.
Five Pressure Zones
When engaged these five pressure zones enhance carving edge hold, especially compared to other profiles that have 3 or even 2 pressure points, like a traditional cambered board.
Rocker Camber Shape
Never Summer managed to package the entire Triple Camber profile within our more traditional rocker camber shape. So, you can trust that our Triple Camber boards will be floaty in the deep powder , easy to turn at variable speeds and fun in the park.
