The Harpoon is an easy-going board for most conditions. I've ridden it on everything packed groomers, hard ice, and some resort powder (no backcountry.... yet). It's very forgiving and glides like a dream over almost all terrain. The only quibble I've had is ice. If you get onto that pure hot/cold-cycled ice, it just doesn't have the edge hold. I think it's a combination of a short edge (152), the rocker-dominant profile, and the fact that I'm not an advanced rider.
I got to demo this board at Loveland today. I loved it especially in the trees and on the steeps. Not much powder to try it in, but looking forward to that. While it is not a carver, it carves fine. You might not want to bomb the groomers at top speed, but it was fun and skate like. Never Summer likes to say they are surfy, which I bet they are in powder. Hoping to make it to the factory this week and pick one up.

This thing slays any terrain that it faces. A blast on groomers, mashed potatoes, good on icy conditions, but on Pow… Wow. Felt super confident imitating turns in the woods a couple weeks ago when we got a fresh powder dumb. Highly recommend, will pick up another at some point in time.
I got the harpoon splitboard and this year has had minimal opportunity for good riding off the resort. That being said, under the ropes through pow and ice this is the most fun I've had on a snowboard. My first day skinning I tried my setup at Sunday River and I loved it so much I'm getting myself a traditional harpoon. It really turned the mountain into a playground with a not so serious attitude. I can hang back, nail side hits, duck through the trees, bomb groomers, have a few drinks, and this board just goes with it. Between storms when there's no fresh snow, I constantly battle between bringing my harpoon split or my proto to the resort.
This is the first Never Summer board I've been a little disappointed with...
Maybe it's because I had an Instagator and that form/profile isn't available anymore. Maybe I was expecting too much...
The Harpoon is good, maybe even great. It is a solid all around board.
The float to weight ratio can't touch the instagator though. This thing bombs. It's great on groomers, but it lacks a bit in the deep stuff and is tricky to turn in the trees in deep snow. I thought I was buying a powder and tree board volume shifted board, and it just doesn't excel there.
