Got the proto synthesis and the mini for my boy for the 23/24 season and they’ve been bangers! Plenty of pop on the mountain and the park. Low chatter and good edge hold. So happy with this purchase and will definitely be buying another Never Summer board in the future! Keep it up!
I’ve been on my old Burton for years, and this year I stepped up to the ProtoSynthesis 160X.
My riding has never had such a quantum leap!
This board holds on the crust, carves through the groomers, and floats on the powder without a moment of doubt.
I’ve been riding since 1989, and this board is the best thing ever had the joy of experiencing on the mountain.
Had the '23 Proto Synthesis for about a year now, and I'm really happy with it. It can go anywhere, and feels comfortable under most any condition. After riding a flat profile board for over a decade, the Shockwave Camber feels really great and poppy. It is also pretty darn stable with speed too.
Finally a true wide board! I Bought my first proto synthesis (159DF) last season and this has been I a life saver I’m a boot size 13 and I can finally say no more toe drag 🙏My only wish would be for a 154DF with the same waist width as a 159 so I can move better in the park. Other than that this thing shreds very stable at high speeds.
I demoed this against the Proto Ultra, to me the Ultra seemed a bit better at high speeds on the groomers and more stable setting up and landing jumps. However the synthesis is a great board, seems a bit more slashy than the Ultra and probably better for rails and jibs as well, just not my style though. Just a bit more of a relaxed style of riding than the Ultra, had to keep it slightly on edge for hard packed cat tracks as well.
