This is the first Never Summer board I've been a little disappointed with...
Maybe it's because I had an Instagator and that form/profile isn't available anymore. Maybe I was expecting too much...
The Harpoon is good, maybe even great. It is a solid all around board.
The float to weight ratio can't touch the instagator though. This thing bombs. It's great on groomers, but it lacks a bit in the deep stuff and is tricky to turn in the trees in deep snow. I thought I was buying a powder and tree board volume shifted board, and it just doesn't excel there.
I have recently just got into snow boarding and I wanted to try a premium board. I was able to demo the 2023 Harpoon and instantly fell in love with how perfect it felt for me. I’m 5’ 6” 185 lbs athletic build and was running the 152” and I have to say I’ve never been more comfortable carving through deep snow and groomed downhills with the harpoon. I instantly went into the shop after my two day demo and bought it. I am now hooked. Thank you Never Summer!
Wow! Just picked up the Harpoon 159 and it's off the charts. It carves and holds its edge like nothing else and the flex is just right. This is not only a freakishly great carving and powder board, but it's so much fun and playful. I've ridden NS for a while now and I have 6 boards in my quiver (all NS) and this will likely be my go to. I can't say enough good things about this. I found myself taking newer and more aggressive lines than before and when slowing down it's so much fun. I'm 6'4" with size 12 boot and riding a 159 is perfect and there is so much control. Thank you NS for creating such an amazing board!
So had the chance this month to Demo lots of boards in the NS line up. Started on the PS and it was great but a little loose for me. Then I tried the Shaper and loved it. Very nimble and effortless to turn. However on the real steep groomers my back edge wasnt as solid as I like it. Then I stepped into the Harpoon and blues and blacks. Amazing! That thing laid trench so deep I felt like my edge was locked in every time. Total blast and so secure on this board. I’m 5’7” and 175 lbs. started on the 156 and was more effort than I like. Then I sized down to the 152 and that was the ticket. My style is just steep groomers and pow. I’m 50 and the days of air and switch are behind me. But who knows… maybe the Harpoon is a new start for me. Thanks Joey and Nick for the sweet demo hookups
This thing shreds on the pow in the most playful and enjoyable way.
Great for big snow turns while flexible enough to jib around the mountain
