My first splitboard was a Never Summer Swift. Bombproof construction. Super confident ride. The contours of the Swift make it an amazing board. I have a 30-year anniversary version that I absolutely treasure. It's great in powder, the trees, the groomers...
However, that contour made it a little more difficult to use on the uphill when in split mode. As someone new to split boarding, it proved particularly difficult. I'm sure with time and better technique it might have been less of an issue, but ultimately I moved on to a different NS board for backcountry.
Best powder board I have ever ridden. It makes turning incredibly easy no matter how deep the snow is. The turning mimics surfing which I love. Smooth and easy. It cuts through tight trees and lays the most perfect arcs on big faces. I have stomped drops on this board I know I would have tomahawked on anything else. I love the set back and the swallowtail. It is enough to float you but not so deep it can't charge hard and hold steady at high speeds. All around my favorite splitboard I have ever owned.
I took up splitboarding in 2017 and was able to try the Swift, Westbound, and a bunch of other non-NS boards at Front Range Splitfest. I loved the westbound split but the Swift split was incredible. The float is insane and it is so easy to surf your way through super deep powder, fly through the steep chutes, and shred in and out of trees. The big nose and set back inserts make popping in and out of deep turns and dolphin-hopping around through the snow effortless. The Swift split a backcountry slayer!
