We went over to Boulder to catch up with longboard master Mark Riley. He said he wanted to “rip this mellow stretch of road”…. Mellow? Maybe for you dude! This guy can do it all on a longboard. He can cruise, shred the skatepark, bomb hills, and slide a damn longboard like nobodies business. He does all this on Never Summer Longboards equipped with NSA longboard wheels. We’re flattered.

The first-ever Never Summer Moto Jam is going down Labor Day Weekend, Friday, September 2 through Sunday September 4, 2011. The Never Summer crew invites you and your family into the National Forest for a weekend of grilling, camping, maybe some drinking, and MOTO! Many of the Never Summer crew are avid dirt bikers and we’ve found the perfect spot in the mountains of Colorado for what is bound to be an awesome gathering. Hundreds of miles of trails for all ability levels. Sleeping in the forest has never been this awesome!

Chris Corning has been riding for Never Summer since he was 8 years old. His dad, Brook Corning, called Never Summer and told us he wanted to give his son, 11 year old Never Summer Team Rider, a real world view. We were told he had a total of one day of experience interning at Community Skate and Snow in Arvada. 11 years old…one day of experience…and we don’t have to pay him…if he works half as hard as he snowboards he’ll be our best employee. He’s HIRED!

Big ups to Brook and Laura Corning for raising this kid to be humble, respectful, and appreciative of all the things he’s received in life! Here’s a look at what he did during his day of hard labor:

These guys rip! Mark Riley shredding the Never Summer Soldier DT Longboard and Stephan Reinhardt on the Never Summer Revolt. If you are an aspiring longboarder watch this edit… This is how it should look after years and years of practice!

Cameron Lawrence having some fun on the Never Summer Descent V2 longboard! The Descent V2 is everything you’ve come to love about the Descent but now has a redesigned shape and includes the addition of functional nose and tail kicks. Kicks it up an notch for certain…

Mark Riley shreds what you asked for… The new Never Summer Heist V2 with the technologically advanced NSA Wheels. The Heist V2 features flex deck performance and functional kick tails. The Drift 77mm NSA Wheels feature awesome slide, durability, and superior grip when you need it. Never Summer Longboard craftsmanship combined with NSA Wheels results in longboard performance never before experienced. This combo definitely keeps Mark at the top of his game.

We didn’t travel the world, or ride in helicopters, or build a private superpipe.  What we did do was create a movie; with our friends, that represents what snowboarding means to us.  HAVING FUN!  20 years ago Never Summer adopted the philosophy of an older, more established company from Vermont… Ben and Jerry’s, “If it’s not fun, why do it?”  For us it still holds true.  Follow us as we travel around hitting what we can, where we can, when we can.  Enjoy!

The Never Summer Soldier is the perfect complement to Mark Riley’s superior longboarding skills! Luckily we recruited him to ride for the Never Summer Longboard Team.  Only premium, handcrafted, made in the USA longboards can withstand the beatings he lays down on the streets of America.

Video Production student Quinn Maxwell put together this four minute informational piece on Never Summer Industries and our patented RC Technology.  Have a look inside our factory in Denver, CO and hear from “The Coolest Guy You Know”, Gags, and The Hammer.  We have to assume Quinn aced the class…

Never Summer Industries was extremely psyched to be able to attend the welcome home ceremony for G Company 2-135th General Support Aviation Battalion. These soldiers just returned home from a year of saving lives in Iraq. The 135th is a helicopter medical evacuation unit, or MEDEVAC unit.  The primary mission for the 135th G Company in Iraq was to provide life-saving support to US and Coalition Soldiers.  G Company flew more than 2200 hours and provided MEDEVAC evacuation for over 240 US and Coalition Force personnel.

A helicopter intended to film the Buffalo Bill Downhill longboard race on Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO crashed today while hovering above the finish line.  Without warning the aircraft started to drift downward towards a large pine tree.  The helicopter’s rotor clipped the tree rendering the rotor useless.  The landing skids hit the ground perpendicular to the slope of the ground causing it to “bounce” ninety degrees counter clockwise.  It seems that the force of the skids hitting the ground caused the tail rotor to shear itself from the aircraft.  I do remember seeing the tail rotor strike the tree also but that memory is hazy and the video I have watched since doesn’t seem to confirm my impression of the incident.  When the landing skid made contact the second time, this time parallel with the slope of the ground, the weight of the helicopter’s front end forced the copter to tip over coming to rest on it’s canopy.  Thankfully no one was hurt.  Police evacuated the area and the remainder of the races were canceled.  As if downhill longboard races aren’t exciting enough, this years Buffalo Bill Downhill is sure to go down in history as one of the most exciting longboard events ever.
