“How Never Summer Shredded the Snowboard Industry with Innovation”

The 15-year-old company was chugging along before its founders chucked long-held conventions and completely reconceived the design of the snowboard.

The long awaited arrival of the Never Summer Signature Terrain Park Features to Monarch Mountain in Salida, CO happened on Tuesday November 1! This year Never Summer has built 6 new terrain park features at our factory in Denver, Colorado. Monarch received twin 16′l x 3′h x 2′w flat boxes. We are so psyched to work with Monarch this season. Head to Monarch this year to check out the NS features, ride in the Never Summer Terrain Park, and maybe do a day on the Never Summer sponsored snowcat. Stay tuned for the announcement of a contest on the NS flat boxes at Monarch, buy a Never Summer board this season and enter to win a Monarch snowcat shred trip, and for future Never Summer Signature Feature deliveries. This is gonna be big!

The long awaited arrival of the Never Summer Signature Terrain Park Feature to Loveland Ski Area happened today! This year Never Summer has built 6 new terrain park features at our factory in Denver, Colorado. Since Loveland is the closest resort to Denver to receive a feature this year we decided to make the first drop at Loveland. We were so psyched to work with Loveland on this. Stay tuned for the announcement of a contest on the NS Roller at Loveland and for future Never Summer Signature Feature deliveries. This is gonna be big!

Wolf Creek Ski Area opened on Saturday October 8th and claimed the “1st Opened” title usually taken by ABasin or Loveland. Never Summer hard chargers Micah, Gags, Joey, and Nick woke up at 3am to make the four hour drive to shred on the official first day of the season. This wasn’t the typical day one…a man made ribbon of death. Wolf Creek opened with three feet of powder! The guys spent the day shredding pow, drank a few post epic day brews, and drove all the way home. Here’s hoping everyday this season is this good!

At Never Summer Industries we enjoy the close relationship we have with our retailers and consumers.  We revel in the fact that when you purchase a Never Summer that board comes with a sense of pride and ownership in Never Summer.  We thought we’d let you have a look behind the scenes at the people who make it all happen and some of the benefits they enjoy.

A helicopter intended to film the Buffalo Bill Downhill longboard race on Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO crashed today while hovering above the finish line.  Without warning the aircraft started to drift downward towards a large pine tree.  The helicopter’s rotor clipped the tree rendering the rotor useless.  The landing skids hit the ground perpendicular to the slope of the ground causing it to “bounce” ninety degrees counter clockwise.  It seems that the force of the skids hitting the ground caused the tail rotor to shear itself from the aircraft.  I do remember seeing the tail rotor strike the tree also but that memory is hazy and the video I have watched since doesn’t seem to confirm my impression of the incident.  When the landing skid made contact the second time, this time parallel with the slope of the ground, the weight of the helicopter’s front end forced the copter to tip over coming to rest on it’s canopy.  Thankfully no one was hurt.  Police evacuated the area and the remainder of the races were canceled.  As if downhill longboard races aren’t exciting enough, this years Buffalo Bill Downhill is sure to go down in history as one of the most exciting longboard events ever.

See Photos of the longboard action and post helicopter crash…

The Buffalo Bill Downhill Longboard Race returns to Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO this Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8.  This is an awesome spectator event and we guarantee that you’ve never seen anything like it!  What else are you going to do on Mother’s Day?
